
KING HOPE POWELL Age 84, of Valencia, passed away on Thursday, May 7, 2015. She is survived by her brother, Lewis (Pam) Powell of Springfield, OR; daughter, Kristi Karsh of Wexford; and son, Michael (Pam) King of Wexford; she was the loving nana of seven grandchildren, Colby, Molly, Joshua, Ali, Jesse, Madi and Caleb. Born in Bradford, PA she grew up in State College and held degrees from Penn State University and the University of Pittsburgh. Hope was the middle school counselor at Mars Area School District for many years and was honored as the PA Middle School Counselor of the Year in 1995. Hope remained very active in retirement, traveling extensively and going on various adventures with her fellow birders, paddlers, and skiers. A memorial service will be held at the First Church of Christ, Scientist, Pittsburgh on Sunday, May 31, 2015, at 2 p.m. The family suggests contributions to the Audubon Society of Western Pennsylvania.
