GREULICH THOMAS A. Age 90, of Harmar Twp., formerly of Fox Chapel, died suddenly on Tuesday, June 30, 2015. Beloved husband of Sally (Bollinger) Greulich; loving father of Thomas A. (Susan) Greulich, Jr. of Baltimore, MD, Elizabeth G. (Kevin) Gilleland of Raleigh, NC and Margaret G. Garland of Ligonier, PA; loving stepfather of Anne (Richard) Vareha of Mars, PA and Edward K. (Deb) Davison of Akron, OH; cherished grandfather of Sarah Ruberto, Mary "Meg" Greulich, Sarah and Olivia Gilleland, Robbie and Tommy Garland; step- grandfather of Olivia Vareha, Kaitlyn Vareha and Kyle Vareha; brother of the late Louis P. Greulich and Margaret G. Hinckley. Tom was a graduate of Shady Side Academy ('43) and Yale University ('49). Between high school and college, he served in World War II as a pilot in the US Army Air Corps (2nd Lt.). He later served as a fighter pilot in the NY Air National Guard (1st Lt.), and was a transatlantic pilot for Pan American Airways. He continued his love of flying as a private pilot throughout his life. Tom founded Greulich, Inc. in 1954. The company had its beginning in the erection of structural steel and soon expanded into heavy machinery installation, pile driving, concrete work and marine work. The company enjoyed its greatest success in the manufacturing and installation of steel grid bridge flooring systems for new and existing bridges. After selling his company, Tom became an Owner/Manger of the Fox Chapel Office Center, and Manager of the Mews II condominium. When he finally retired at 75, Tom continued his regimen of daily exercise and pursued his interests in history, astronomy and current events. He was a voracious reader, and also enjoyed watching the college lecture series, The Great Courses. Tom was an intelligent, humble, loving man of America's Greatest Generation. He was a longtime member of the Duquesne Club and Longue Vue Club. He will be missed dearly. Funeral services will be held privately. Arrangements by WEDDELL - AJAK FUNERAL HOME, Aspinwall.
