KENNETH W. RILING Of Wilkins Twp., age 55, suddenly on Tuesday, April 21, 2020. Beloved spouse of Joel Brewton, whom he married on July 20, 2019. Devoted son of Mary Lou (Biedinger) Riling and the late Kenneth E. Riling. Treasured brother of Jim (Michelle) Riling of Wilkins Twp. Cherished uncle of Ethan Riling. Kenny is also survived by aunts, uncles, cousins and many friends. Ken was a 1982 graduate of St. Thomas High School and graduated from the Duquesne University School of Pharmacy in 1989. He was hired upon graduation at McKeesport Hospital and spent his entire 30-year pharmacist career with UPMC. Ken studied organ since he was a youth and even played at his commencement ceremony at Duquesne which was on his 25th birthday. He also was a church organist at the former St. William Church and Holy Cross Parish in East Pittsburgh. He also substituted at St. Colman, and Good Shepherd/Sacred Heart Parish. Often, Ken doubled as a cantor while playing the organ and also sang with the Holy Cross choir. He also delighted in decorating his churches for Christmas and Easter. Another passion of Ken's was gardening. He became a Master Gardener through Penn State Extension course. He charitably volunteered his gardening skills at several churches and also the Wilmerding Community Center, formerly the YMCA. Ken's favorite place to visit was Kennywood. He was a member of the American Coaster Enthusiasts (ACE) and has travelled as far as Europe to ride coasters and visit amusement parks. Ken was dedicated to his Church, his mother, Joel and his family. He was generous with his time and talent to create a better place in his world. YVONNE BERNICE DALLAS January 12, 1924 to April 19, 2020. On Sunday, April 19, 2020, at Asbury Heights Nursing Home, Yvonne Bernice Dallas of Mount Lebanon, Pennsylvania peacefully died of natural causes. Muffy, as she was called by family and friends from her toddler years onward, was the beloved wife for 59 years of John R. Dallas, who passed away in 2001. She was the only child of the late Regina E. Shearer and Hubert F. Shearer. She is survived by her three deeply grateful children, Judy Dallas Bardy of Mt. Lebanon, PA, John R. Dallas, Jr. of Chicago, IL, and Shirlee Dallas Heiber of Oakdale, PA. Her sons-in-law, Byron J. Bardy and Edward P. Heiber, were particularly close with their cherished mother-in-law. Yvonne's adoring grandchildren include, Michelle Bardy Platt (Rev. Dr. James Platt) of Mt. Lebanon, PA, Susan Bardy Porter of Bridgeville, PA, Pamela Dallas Bardy-Miller (John K. Heiber, Cody A. Newman, Shane M. Heiber, and Victoria K. Heiber. Muffy is missed by her dearest lifetime friend, Ruth Roam of Mt. Lebanon, PA, her church family, and countless friends of all ages. Mrs. Dallas was an active member of Hamilton Presbyterian Church in Bethel Park, where she served as an elected Deacon and a dedicated member of the choir. For nearly 40 years, Mrs. Dallas worked for The United Way of Allegheny County as an executive administrator. In her retirement years, she enjoyed traveling in Europe and throughout the United States. From her childhood's award-winning competitions in song and dance, through to her adult years as a leader for Girl Scouts and Cub Scouts, Muffy was always engaged in the life of her communities. She very much enjoyed golfing and attending live theater, especially musicals. Once current health care challenges are under control, a memorial service will be scheduled at Hamilton Presbyterian Church. WILLIAM POWER SPELLMAN A well-respected man, husband, father, grandfather, friend, Christian, Veteran, and Sports fanatic, William Power Spellman, passed peacefully on Sunday, April 19, 2020. He was 92. Bill was born in Newport, RI on June 2, 1927, the last survivor of four children born to the late Robert Vincent and Esther (Power) Spellman. Bill married his beloved, Alice M. (Van Goethem) on June 17, 1950. They had 65 wonderful years until she passed in 2015. In addition to his parents and wife, he was preceded in death by his brother, Robert Spellman, Jr., sister, Mary Whitlesy and brother, Arthur Spellman. Bill is survived by sons, Bruce (wife Julie) Spellman of Manhattan, KS, Brian (wife Mary Sue) Spellman of Wexford, and Gary Spellman of Charlotte, NC; four grandchildren and five great-grandchildren with another expected this June. Bill retired in 1989 after 40 years with US Air where he had been a station manager for 15 years and established customer service in the airports of Cleveland, Detroit, Kansas City, Newark and Pittsburgh. He was a member of St. Margaret Mary Church and the Retired US Air Employees. Part of the Greatest Generation, he served in the U.S. Army during WWII. He was also the #1 Booster for Moon Area Sports earning a lifetime pass to all Moon sports (many, now adults, to this day remember him cheering them on). Bill loved to walk in the neighborhoods of Amherst, Sharon Hill North and South. He made friends along the way. He always had a smile and kind word for all. You were blessed if you knew Bill. He was an all-round nice guy, loved by many, and never forgotten. Mom was the heart and source of strength for our family. She taught us to be generous and kind. Our home and our dinner table were always open to all. Mom's table was big enough for everyone, and so was her heart. She took great pleasure in baking and our family, friends, and neighbors took great pleasure in eating what she baked. Our home was the center for all family holidays with so much food, the eating went on for two days. Mom was the perfect loving great-grandmother, grandmother, and aunt, she taught us to be determined and to be strong. She completed high school while caring for her invalid mother. She dreamed of becoming a nurse and was finally able to realize that goal at the age of 33, as an LPN in the ICU of Shadyside Hospital. Mom was our rock during the times when dad was ill, comforting us when he passed. Mom held our family together through the difficult times and made every celebration special. She graduated from Weston High School, Weston, WV, and attended Fairmont State School of Nursing before marrying. She is survived by her former husband, Richard B. Morrison; her son, Rick (Andrea) Morrison; her daughter, Ann Morrison (Bob Hendricks); two grandchildren, Todd Morrison and Ashley Benson (Jason); six great-grandchildren; and many longtime friends. She was preceded in death by her parents, Harold and Naomi Thomas of Weston, WV; her sister, Sally Lee Bonnell; and additionally by her two late husbands, Joseph Pollack III and Orlando T. Mancini. For over 30 years, she was employed at Mt. Lebanon Diagnostic Clinic and was the first employee hired in 1963. Thirty years later, she and Orlando owned Frankie's Extra Long Hot Dogs in Lawrenceville and Hank's Dog House on West Liberty Avenue. Betty was also a 50-plus year member of the Eastern Star of WV and of Bower Hill Community Church in Mt. Lebanon. HARVEY GILBERT TEXTER Just shy of 84 years young, of Cranberry Township, formerly of Boyers, passed away peacefully at his home on Tuesday, April 21st. Harvey was born on May 10, 1936 in Venango County, the son of the late Harvey Franklin Texter and Zethina Rose Wilson Texter. Harvey was honored to have achieved the 32nd Degree of the Northern Masonic Jurisdiction of the Scottish Rite of New Castle and was a member of the Freemasons of the Grove City Masonic Lodge No. 603. He was a lifetime member of the Marion Township Volunteer Fire Department and the president of the organization when they added emergency medical services in the 1970s. Harvey was also an active member of St. Alphonsus and Epiphany Catholic Churches in Boyers, PA. Quite the athlete in his day, Harvey loved spending his time on the baseball diamond, even winning the 1955 Butler County Junior League Championship, one of his proudest moments. Most of all, Harvey loved watching his grandchildren and great-grandchildren participate in sports, dance and cheerleading. There wasn't an athletic field that Harvey didn't love to be at and there wasn't anyone cheering louder for the players than him! Surviving are his loving daughter, Judith (Alex) Zedreck-Gonzalez of Allison Park; two grandchildren, Courtney (Eric) Proie of Mars and Colin (Erin) Zedreck of New Castle; two great-grandchildren, Eric and Alexandra Proie; three great-granddogs, Mia and Milo Zedreck and Bruno Proie, along with his numerous furry friends at Berkley Creek Labradors; his sisters, Patsy (Mike) Greenert and Elaine (Dave) Shook, both of Eau Claire, PA; and numerous loving nieces and nephews. He was especially grateful for the messages and calls from his niece, Priscilla Simmons and nephews/godsons, Greg (Michelle) Fitzingo and Kirby (Courtney Burgoon) Fitzingo. Harvey was preceded in death by his loving wife of 60 years, Mary Frances (Tootsie) Fitzingo Texter, his sister, Roseanna Karenbauer and his brother, Eugene Texter. Harvey's family knows he was also met by showers of wet kisses from his many loyal dogs, led by his favorites- Fox Dog: King, Doberman: Apache, and Shih Tzu: Louie. Harvey's fun-loving and generous character is evident by the numerous lifelong friends and dear neighbors that he gathered throughout his years.
