IRENE MARIE AIELLO Of Pittsburgh, passed away at Marian Manor in Greentree on Monday, August 31, 2020, at the age of 100. Predeceased by her beloved husband, Eugene, in 1995. Also preceded in death by her three brothers, Edward, James and Paul. Irene was employed for many years by Liberty Printing and retired in 1984. Irene was a beloved and cherished aunt to many nieces and nephews. She was a “one-of-a-kind” person who was always the model of kindness and graciousness in her lifetime and helped to put the “Great” in the Greatest Generation. Irene was deeply loved by her family, her friends and by everyone else whoever had the pleasure of meeting her. Irene will be greatly missed by all who knew her, but her sweet style and loving smile will never be forgotten. CHARLES RONALD "RON" EWING Of Cecil, passed away peacefully on Sunday, August 30, 2020 at St. Clair Hospital, after a short illness. Born May 12, 1937, he was the son of the late Charles and Izetta (Eaton) Ewing. On December 30, 1966, he married Gwendolyn Joy (McCoy) Ewing, who survives. Mr. Ewing is also survived by a sister, Beverly (Dutch) Triplett of Beaver; a sister-in-law, Jan Craig of North Carolina; a sister-in-law, Carol (Harry) Epstein of Florida; his best friend, Duie (Jean) Matenkosky of Jeannette; and many nieces and nephews. Ron graduated from West Allegheny High School, attended Grove City College and graduated from American Flyer Flight School in Oklahoma. He had a life-long passion for flight. He designed, built and flew model airplanes since he was a child and owned and flew his Cessna 150 from 1969 until 2004. Following that, he rode motorcycles and motor scooters. He loved his many dogs and cats, especially his cat “Ted,” a rescue from Washington Area Humane Society, who misses him greatly. A Memorial Service will be held at a later date. She was the daughter of the late Flora (Glein) Heinrichs and Andrew Heinrichs; sister of the late Marie and (Fred) Dale of Lower Burrell, PA, and sister of Dolores and Herbert Hummel of Lyndhurst Ohio. Wife of the late Howard T. Sweeney of McKees Rocks, PA. Lois was the most loving mother of Mary Anne and (Walter) Proch of Kennett Square, PA, Theresa Metelsky (Holly Woods) of Economy, PA; loving grandmother of Amy Metelsky (Ashlee Reed) of Chicago, Illinois, Daniel and (Ashley) Metelsky of Economy, PA, Julia Metelsky (Chris Laychak) of Pittsburgh, PA, Christina Proch of Durham, NC and Elizabeth Proch of Durham, NC. Every room Lois entered, she lit up with love, laughter and charm. She was an avid fan of sports, loved crocheting, puzzle books but most of all spending time with her family. EDNA LAMPING For seventy-three years of marriage, Edna and Joe Lamping were inseparable. After his death in January of this year, Edna's daily prayer was to be with her loving husband. On August 31, her prayers were answered when she peacefully passed away at her home in Robinson Township and was reunited with her Joe. Edna, age 97, was born on September 25, 1922 to Mary Nickischer Posch and John Posch in McKees Rocks. She attended St. Mary's School and McKees Rocks High School. She worked at Krobots Market on Railroad Street, where she first met Joe who was making deliveries. She and Joe were married at St. Mary's on June 26, 1946. They had six children, Joseph, Jr. (deceased), Rosemary (Tom) Jageman, Barbara (Sim?n) Garrett-Boger, Lois (Jim) Nicholson, Ed (Susan) Lamping and Kathy (Mark) Dolak. She is survived by 17 grandchildren and 23 great-grandchildren. In addition to her son and parents, she was predeceased by siblings, John Posch, Pvt. Frank Posch and Arthur Posch. She was a member of St. Malachy Church, S.N.P.J. Lodge 106, CFU Lodge 29, AARP Chapter 4820 and two card clubs. She and Joe travelled and performed with the Slovenian Heritage Association throughout the United States, Canada and Europe for many years. Please be advised that due to COVID restrictions, visitation is limited only to family. A Mass of Christian Burial for family and friends will be at St. Malachy Church in Kennedy Township on Thursday, September 10 at 10:00 AM. JEFFREY A. KUHN Loving husband and father of three, passed away peacefully on September 1, 2020, at the age of 55, following a battle with diabetes. His final days were spent surrounded by family in McCandless, PA. Jeff was born on May 18, 1965, to Ada (Seeley) Kuhn and John Kuhn. He graduated from North Allegheny High School. He married his high school sweetheart, Patricia (Etzel) Kuhn, whom he was married to for 29 years. They raised three children, Tyler, Erin, and Matthew. Jeff was a devoted husband and father. He loved spending time with his family, his dog, Lily, and being outside playing golf. He was loving, passionate, and strong-willed. Jeff was the proud owner of Elite Orthotics, Inc., a company he ran for 22 years. He loved to share his knowledge through coaching and teaching others. He is survived by his wife, Patti; children, Tyler, Erin, and Matthew; father, John (Linda) Kuhn; sisters, Debbie Kuhn, Diana (Pat) Carlin, and Kitsie (Dan) Nelson; parents-in-law, Jack and Jean Etzel; brothers/sisters-in-law, Barb (Bill) Steinmetz, Mary Beth (Steve) Herbert, and Rich (Kristine) Etzel; and nieces/nephews, Jake, Emily, Samantha, Ryan, Zoe, and Olivia. JOYCE ANN (RAAKER) AUGENSTEIN Age 89, peacefully passed on to heaven at her longtime home in Bethel Park on September 1, 2020. Born to Andrew and Luverne Raaker on December 1, 1930, in Covington, KY. She was preceded in death by her loving husband, John, of 57 years. She is survived by her sister, Judith Smith; and her children, Jonilee (Wayne, deceased) Matragras, Jay (Sue), Jodi (Dan) Bilski, Jeff (Lynne), Jim, Jill, Jack and Jocelyn (Shawn) Conroy. She was our loving matriarch with twenty-two grandchildren and nineteen great-grandchildren. She is also survived by many nieces and nephews. GORDON JOSEPH GRIFFITH Age 56, passed away Wednesday, September 2, 2020. He was the beloved son of Maureen A. Griffith and the late R. Allen Griffith; loving brother of Mark A. (Lisa L.) Griffith; proud uncle of Abbey N. and Justin J. Griffith; dear cousin of Vincent and Mary Ann Maus of West Hempstead, NY. Born in Pittsburgh, Gordon lived in Glenshaw and Aspinwall. He worked in the mail room at Joseph Horne's downtown until its closing. He also worked sorting mail and delivering it to the corporate offices of Giant Eagle Inc in RIDC. An avid fan of all Pittsburgh teams he amassed an extensive collection of sports memorabilia. A man of great inner fortitude he endured a lifetime of serious illness and struggles without bitterness and with quiet dignity. He was loved by those who knew him and will be deeply missed. Bill attended the University of West Virginia and served overseas in the US Army. For many years, Bill was owner/operator of W J Distributors, a wholesale novelty business. Along with his children, surviving to cherish his memory is his wife of 37 years and the love of his life, Bette A. Stitch John. MARGARET DEVLIN DOWNEY Age 81, passed away surrounded by her family on August 25, 2020. She was born on September 8, 1938, in Pittsburgh, to A. Dudley and Mary F. Devlin. She married William “Bill” Downey in December of 1976, and raised their family in Greenfield. Bill (“Weedles”) preceded her in death in 1998. Margaret worked as an executive assistant at the Greenfield Organization, Westinghouse Air Brake, and Pittsburgh Forgings Co. Her adeptness at shorthand always proved useful when organizing Christmas lists for her two beloved children. She spent the last 16 years living in North Fort Myers, FL, alongside her siblings and plenty of sunshine. She cherished spending time, especially the holidays, with her kids and seven grandchildren. Throughout the years, Margie was a treasured aunt and friend to so many. She was forever touched by all those who came to celebrate her 80th birthday party at the Soldiers and Sailors in Greenfield. Margaret is survived by her siblings, Mary Greene, James Devlin, and Dorothy (Charles) McBride all of North Fort Myers, FL; her children, Colleen (Thomas) Kuppinen of Raleigh, NC and William (Amy) Downey, Jr. of Allentown, PA; her grandchildren, Thomas, Lauren, Matthew, and Mark Kuppinen and Natalie, Katherine, and Nolan Downey. RALPH NORMAN It is with great sadness that the family of Ralph Norman announces his death on Wednesday, September 2nd, 2020. Beloved husband of Maureen (Daniel) Norman with over 40 years of marriage and 65 years of friendship. He leaves behind two sons, David and Joey Norman, and his grandchildren. He was the son of the late Norma (Stoeckle) and Howard Norman; and son-in-law of the late Mary Lou and John Daniel. Ralph was loved by many including his brother, Richard Norman, sister, the late Mary Ellen Schwarz, and brothers and sisters-in-law, Denise Daniel, John (Leslie)(the late Janet) Daniel, Marty (Leah) Daniel, Kathy Ford, Silvia Calderon Daniel, Bessy (Bob) Miller, Allison (Dan) Carney, Theresa (David) Suehr and the late Stephen Daniel, Larry (Cathy) Daniel and Karl Suehr. Adored by many nieces, nephews, great-nieces, and great-nephews. Ralph was a retired Pittsburgh police officer, motorcycle division, and Vietnam Veteran. A loving, caring, compassionate and dedicated sister, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother, Margaret is survived by sister, Carolyn (George); brother, Karlton; son, John; daughter, Tonya (Keith); seven grandchildren, Cassaundra, Cynthia, John, Alona, John, Victor and Katie May; three great-grandchildren, King, Azari, Titan; and a host of relatives, including her beloved uncle, Robert Harper; and many close friends. Margaret spent her career as a registered nurse at several healthcare facilities including Allegheny General Hospital and she retired as Assistant to Dr. Yee Chung Ho, MD.
