GATTO JAMES JIM J. Of Forest Hills, passed away at age 79 on Monday, June 6, 2016, after a long battle with heart disease. Jim was born in 1936 in Swissvale to Anthony and Cora Gatto, and lived in the Pittsburgh area almost his entire life. He attended Swissvale High School, and studied engineering at Pitt. After graduating, he joined the Army and served two years in Germany in the Army Signal Corps. Upon his return, he began working at Westinghouse where he remained for the next 31 years until he retired in 1994. During that time, he went on to earn a Master's degree to supplement his undergrad followed by an MBA, a pattern his children both followed. After retirement, he began to pursue one of his real passions, Geography, and taught numerous courses at the Osher Institute at Carnegie Mellon on the subject. He is survived by his wife, Martha; his children, Jeff and Melinda; his sisters, Jean Brady and Myrna King; and many nieces, nephews, and cousins. Funeral Private. Arrangements by the THOMAS L. She was a founding member of Christian Missionary Alliance Church of Upper St. Clair. Mary's passion was to share her faith, teaching others and blessing them with her service. She shared the Gospel of Christ with children through Child Evangelism for more than 40 years. At John J. Kane Hospital she brought many elderly individuals peace and comfort for more than 30 years. Born November 27, 1946, in Pitcairn, PA, he was a past Commander of VFW Post 6689, Essex Junction, VT, having served in the United States Army. He was also an active member of the American Legion, Loyal Order of the Moose, and Elks Lodge. He enjoyed helping others, being outdoors in nature and working with his hands. He was preceded in death by his father, J. Robert "Bob" Long; and mother, Erva "Dolly" Long. He is survived by his children, James Curtis (Christine) Long, Nathan Long and Angel Long. He was also the beloved Papa and grandfather of Madison Long and three other grandchildren. He is also survived by his brother, Dr. Bruce (Michelle) Long. Debbie, a native of Pittsburgh, graduated from Penn Hills High School in 1969. Her professional positions included veterinary technician, office manager and most recently, Administrative Assistant for AMF Bowling Centers. Her volunteer work included Enlisted Ombudsman of the USS Independence (CV-62) during her husband's tour aboard the ship. An avid hockey fan, Debbie was a longtime Norfolk Admirals Hockey season ticket holder, and she fervently followed the Pittsburgh Penguins as well as Virginia Tech and University of Pittsburgh football. Debbie was the loving mother of the late Michael Moulton, who predeceased her in 2012. In addition to her husband and mother, she is survived by her aunt, Carol Vaporetti of Pittsburgh; her sister-in-law, Darcee Purvis and nephew, Shane Purvis both of Greensburg, PA; her nephew, Derek Purvis, his wife, Laura Purvis and her great-niece, Guinevere Purvis all of Upper Arlington, OH. Debbie is also survived by her godmother, Vivian Trautmann of Pittsburgh; and cousins, Dale Purvis, Donna Schmelz, and Patty Boland. She also left a large number of dear friends.
