BROWN EDWARD W. Age 89, Johnstown, passed away peacefully at his home July 28, 2015. Born January 28, 1926, in Braddock Hills, to the late James and Mary (Downey) Brown. Preceded in death by wife of 65 years, Doris L. Matthews; sister, Eileen Barnes; brothers, James, John, and Thomas Brown. Survived by sons, Robert E. and wife, Sue Ann (Wallace), Texas, James W. and wife, Kathleen (Baranski), Pittsburgh; grandchildren, Kathryn Elizabeth Brown, Rebecca Eileen Meyer and husband, Nathan, both of Dallas; nephews, John E. "Jack" Brown, Jr., Thomas A. Brown; nieces, Mary Ann Brown, Margie Ritson, all of Braddock Hills, Mary B. Kostelec, Harrisburg; great-nephews, Sean and Michael Ritson, Dan Kostelec; great-niece, Jessica Kostelec; great-great-nephew, Beau Ritson; and great-great- niece, Adalynn Rose Ritson. Edward was a veteran of the U.S. Navy. He enjoyed golfing, painting, and was a member of the Windber Country Club. At Edward's request, there will be no viewing or service. Husband of the late Dolores (Benton) O'Connor; beloved father of John E., Jr. (Mary), Patrick “PJ” O'Connor; dear grandfather of Jake O'Connor; brother of Bonnie (Charles) Bayer and Fred “Fritz,” the late Donald (surviving wife Shirley of California), Robert (surviving wife Jean O'Connor of Florida) and Shirley Mae O'Connor; also survived by nieces and nephews; brother-in-law of Bill (Sue) Benton and Barbara (Gary) Parsons; devoted and loving friend of Anna Mae Hilf. John was a veteran with the US Army. He was formerly employed as a contract analyst with United Steel Workers of America. He was proud to be a union worker for over 41 years. Lebanon High School 1981, now of New York City). Andy was a 1984 graduate of Mt. Lebanon High School, where he lettered in football and hockey. He also played on traveling baseball and hockey teams and enjoyed golfing. Andy earned his degree from Robert Morris University. He was a Certified Insurance Adjuster, specializing in flood insurance, as well as property and casualty, and recently became president of the family owned Mizerak Adjusting Company, succeeding his father. David was a loving husband, father and grandfather, as well as a teacher, historian, author, Democrat, questioner of authority and the status quo, traveler and avid Pirates fan. DEVINE PATRICK ERNEST “MR. WONDERFUL” Age 78, of Pittsburgh, passed away peacefully at his home on Wednesday, July 29, 2015. He was born in Sewickley, PA, on September 14, 1936, the son of the late Ernest Francis and Helen Ellen (Paley) Devine. He is survived by his wife, Diana Vee Johnston, whom he married July 9, 1959; two sons, Keith (Susan) and John Devine; three grandchildren, Shawn, Bryant and Sarah Devine; and brother, Robert (Susan) Devine. He was a General Science teacher at Langley High School for 32 years, where his students often remember him for his unique and interesting science experiments. He was active for many years in the Boy Scouts, earning the Silver Beaver award. He coached Langley High School volleyball, Sheraden Little League Baseball and Girls Slow-Pitch Softball. In the past few years, his favorite activities included singing with the Harmony Singers of Pittsburgh and performing with the Vintage Radio Players. He belonged to Trinity Ev. Lutheran Church of Sheraden, where he was Choir Director for many years. He was a founding member of the West End Christian Ministries (WECM). He enjoyed being with his family, fishing and going to his campsite. Memorial Service will be held on Sunday, August 2, 2015, at 3:00 p.m. at TRINITY EV. LUTHERAN CHURCH, immediately followed by a wake to Celebrate his Life! Memorial gifts may be sent to Trinity Ev. Lutheran Church, 3102 Sherwood Ave., Pittsburgh, PA 15204.
