YANIGA FRANK M. Age 89, of North Huntingdon, on Wed., Oct. 11, 2017, at his home. Born Oct. 10, 1928, in Braddock; he was the son of the late Michael and Sophia (Slaninka) Yaniga. Prior to retirement Frank was employed as a millwright for US Steel Edgar Thompson Works of Braddock with 47 yrs. service. He was a veteran of the Korean War serving in the US Army and was a member of the White Oak American Legion. He was a member of the St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Church of North Huntingdon, The Ladies Pennsylvania Slovak Catholic Union, The First Catholic Slovak Union (Jednota), The First Catholic Slovak Ladies Union, and the Penns Woods Civic Assoc. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by sisters, Cecelia Serocky, Mary Garrity, and Viola “Dolly” Durick, a brother, Richard Janiga. CARTER HENRIETTA MURIEL DUPREE Of McKeesport, PA, after battling lung cancer passed away on October 7, 2017. She was born of Chesy James Dupree and Arris (Fountain) Dupree. She spent the majority of her working career at Westinghouse Air Brake Company. She was a free spirit who never met a stranger. Henrietta was the loving mother of Melvin (and Lisa) Dupree, Karen Spinner, Tia (and Robert) Sanders, Robert (and Diane) Spinner, and Dawn (and Joe) Mack. She was the proud grandmother of 11 and 13 great-grandchildren. She left behind her sister, Rev. LYON ROBERT DAWSON Of Easton, MD, died on Sunday, October 8, 2017, at Bayleigh Chase. He was 95. He was born in Burgettstown, PA on April 12, 1922, the son of the late Paul Wright Lyon and Hazel Scott Lyon. He was preceded in death by his brother, William Scott Lyon and his sister, Ruth Lyon Elwell. He married Dorothy Napora of Jersey City, NJ on November 11, 1949. A graduate of the United States Naval Academy, class of '47, Bob served in the Korean War. Upon his return to the United States, he made his home in Pittsburgh, PA where began his career in the steel industry. He retired as the Superintendent of the Open Hearth at J&L Steel in 1983. An avid golfer, Bob was a longtime member of the Youghiogheny Country Club in Pittsburgh. A resident of Pittsburgh for over 65 years, he moved to Easton, MD in 2016 to be closer to family. Bob is survived by his wife of 67 years, Dorothy Lyon; a daughter, Julie Crocker (Michael); two granddaughters: Courtney Kerwin (Patrick) and Ashley Tanis, both of Stevensville, MD; and three great-grandsons: Rylan, Tyler and Logan Kerwin. Born November 13, 1927, in Castle Shannon, she was the daughter of the late William and Mabel Schwarz. Hilda attended the White Oak Springs Presbyterian Church. She was a fantastic cook, and she enjoyed attending the senior activities at the Cranberry Twp. municipal building. She loved traveling, especially to Deep Creek Lake in Maryland. LEVINE ALAN H. Born August 22, 1925, passed away on Monday, October 9, 2017. Formerly of Buffalo, NY and recently of Lighthouse Pointe in Pittsburgh, age 92. He was born in Schenectady, NY, to the late David and Cele Levine. He was a respected lawyer in Buffalo, specializing in family law. Alan was a voracious reader and avid golfer and tennis player. He continued to play tennis and golf until his late-80s. Alan served in the 87th Infantry Division, and saw combat in various campaigns, including the Battle of the Bulge during World War II. He graduated from Cornell University in 1950 and the University of Buffalo School of Law in 1956. He will be remembered for his astute analysis of history and politics and his ability to tell a joke exactly pertinent to the topic of conversation. He was predeceased by his wife of 62 years, Doretta Schwartz Levine, with whom he shared lifelong friends in Buffalo, including the Discussion Group, which met monthly for over 50 years, and by his brother, Robert Levine. He is survived by his stepbrother, Lewis Grossberger; and his sons, Clifford (Rosanne), Daniel (Miette) and Roger (Jeff Gordon); along with grandchildren, Meredith Levine Tsadok (Daniel), Benjamin (Dalila Boclin), Eric, and Rebecca Levine, Leah Riehl (Chris) and David Levine (Vi Nguyen); and great- grandchildren, Felicity and Clementine Riehl. Born on July 14, age 75 of Beechview. Husband of Ruthann (Opferman); adored father of Tina (Paul) Leonard, Lisa (Greg) Ceravolo, Lori, Anthony (Christine), Angel (Scott) Efferin; cherished and proud “Pap-Pap” of 11 grandchildren, Angelo and Dominic, Gregorio, Vanessa and Amanda, Anthony, Alex and Olivia, Brandon, Ryan and Jeremy; dear brother of Anthony “Bucky”, Bobby and Bernadette (Andy) Tumicki and the late Catherine “Kitty” Magnotta. Born July 7, 1936, in Pittsburgh, PA. He was a veteran of the US Army and served honorably in the Korean War and was employed as an Electrician for the IBEW Local # 5 in Pittsburgh for his entire career. He enjoyed hockey, rollerskating and was a devoted Steeler and Penguin supporter all his life. He was preceded in death by his parents, Robert and Alice Nellis; and a sister, Arlene Nellis. Raymond is survived by, Gloria, his loving wife of 22 years; his children, Cynthia (Jeff) Foglio, Michael (Anna Marie) Nellis, Linda (Jerry) Moss, and Russell Nellis; a stepson, Chris Meggison; a brother, Robert Nellis, a sister, Nancy Falco; six grandchildren; and two great-grandchildren.
