Catherine graduated from Vincentian High School followed by Edinboro University where she studied Library Science and met Peter, her husband of 45 years. She served on the Shaler Area School Board for almost two decades, demonstrating her passion for improving children's education. She enjoyed creating works of stained glass along with collecting various paperweights and glass ornaments. Spending time with her three grandchildren was extremely rewarding to her. Catherine is survived by her husband, Peter; brother, David (Colette); sister, Camille (Robert), late sister, Nancy; two sons, Clifford (Lisa) and Drew; and three grandchildren, Dylan, Sophia, and Henry. PERRY ELIZABETH BRUMBAUGH Age 105, passed away peacefully on December 8, 2017. She was the beloved wife of the late Dr. Samuel Wesley Perry, Jr.; loving mother of Ann (the late Dr. Richard) Mayberry, Susan (Gerald) Farmer, James (Cathy) Perry and the late Dr. Samuel Wesley (Anna) Perry III; and cherished grandmother of 12 grandchildren and 19 great- grandchildren and counting. She was preceded in death by her siblings, Dr. Simon C. Brumbaugh, Jr. and Esther Smith. Betty had an extended family of many nieces, nephews and cousins, her friends at Friendship Village, and the friends she met around the world. Betty was an elegant woman who sought knowledge and wisdom throughout her life. A Registered Nurse who trained at Pennsylvania Hospital, she was always curious, going to Westminster College in her 50s, traveling the world to learn how others lived, reading books on all religions of the world, and listening to books on tape as her eyesight diminished in the last years of her life. She loved the theatre and particularly the glamour and fashion of the stars. She had the warmth and kindness to make a connection with everyone she met and was known as "Aunt Betty" to her extended family and the friends she met on her life's journey. ACKERMAN KATHRYN A. CASSIE Age 95, of West Mifflin, died December 8, 2017, at Atria Senior Living where she resided for the past two years. Born June 3, 1922, in West Mifflin, Cassie was the oldest of five children. As a teenager, she lost both of her parents to illness and went to work as a "Rosie the Riveter" at the US Steel Irvin Works. She was raised with a belief in hard work and devotion to family and God. She and her late husband, Harry V. Ackerman, married Feb. 12, 1944, and were together for 55 years. She is survived by a daughter, Janice (Richard) Kleiser of Bethel Park; a brother, Patrick (Ruth) Massung of White Oak; grandchildren, Harry and Karen; great-grandchildren, Megan, Erica, Matthew, and Kathryn; as well as many nieces, nephews, and cousins. She was preceded in death by her husband; two sisters, Thelma Smith and Mary Lou Hartnett; a brother, Lawrence Massung; and her parents, Lawrence and Sarah Massung, all of West Mifflin. Cassie always had a bright smile, loved to play cards, cook Sunday dinners and bake pies. She was a retired grocery store cashier and a longtime Meals on Wheels volunteer. She was a member of St. Ann Auxiliary of Divine Redeemer Academy, McKeesport Hospital Auxiliary and Holy Spirit Church in West Mifflin. WILKOSKI ZACHARY J. Age 29, died on December 8, 2017, as a result of injuries sustained in a motor vehicle accident on December 6, 2017. He was born September 27, 1988, in Pittsburgh, PA the son of Joseph and Deborah (Connors) Wilkoski. He attended Mt. Lebanon High School and graduated from Penn State University with a degree in Industrial Engineering, and later from the University of Pittsburgh with a Master's of Business Administration degree. Zach is survived by his parents; a sister, Jennifer (Justin) Glass; and numerous loving aunts, uncles, and cousins. Preceded in death by his grandparents, June and John Connors, and Tillie and Joseph Wilkoski, Sr. Zach worked for Kraft Heinz Corporation, and later for Bayer Corporation as a Planning Lead. He was a bright, energetic, focused, hardworking individual who was quick to help others. His smile, quick wit, and ability to brighten the day were well known. Zach also was known for his keen planning and organizational skills, both inside and outside of the workplace, where his gatherings with family and friends were well attended and enjoyed by all. Zach was coming into his own when his life was cut short and before his full potential was realized. He will be missed by family, friends, and colleagues. A most giving and generous man, Zach was able to pass on the gift of life by donating his organs. He was a selfless person who would do anything for anyone, and was loved by all. Zach was taken from us too soon and will be greatly missed.
