NANCY A. KRUPA AGE 77, OF MONR...
NANCY A. KRUPA Age 77, of Monroeville; formerly of East McKeesport and Corry, PA, passed away May 2, 2020, after a nine year battle of mental and physical decline due to Alzheimer's disease. Born March 28, 1943, she was a daughter of the late Walter and Gladys Krupa. Nancy and her husband, Eugene Red Haynes, owned and worked at their company, Kory Builders, as general contractors for 27 years. Initially, Nancy physically worked alongside her husband on the jobs; but as the company grew, she worked in the office managing the company's operations and overseeing the jobs. During that time, Nancy was an active member of the East Allegheny Business Association and also on the board. Nancy was a strong, independent woman who enjoyed working in the man's world of construction. Nancy and Red also enjoyed traveling across the country on their motorcycles and were married for 33 years until Red's death in 2006. Prior to her marriage, Nancy earned a doctorate from Carnegie Tech in 1971 and was a home economics teacher. She was an avid dog lover and especially loved her many Rhodesian Ridgebacks. Over the years, she bred and proudly showed her dogs throughout the Tri-State area. She enjoyed entering her Ridgebacks in lure coursing competitions, placing 1st and coming home with many ribbons and prizes. Nancy was a member and former officer of the Rhodesian Ridgeback Club of the United States. She also enjoyed gardening and had the most colorful container flower garden in the neighborhood. In addition to her husband, she was also preceded in death by her sister, Linda Krupa. She is survived by friends and cousins. A heartfelt thank you to Nancy's caregivers, nurses and staff over the past nine years; and more recently, to the entire hospice staff who also provided her care over the last year and a half. SANDRA "SANDY" NICASSIO AGE 69...
SANDRA "SANDY" NICASSIO Age 69, of Plum Boro, passed away on Sunday, May 3, 2020, after a three year battle with Ovarian Cancer. She is survived by her children, Anthony (Christy) of Gibsonia, Mark (Chrissy) of Pittsburgh, Christina of Plum Boro; and her grandchildren, Tony and Joey. She was preceded in death by her husband, Dr. Anthony J. Nicassio M.D. Sandy worked as a Realtor with Northwood Realty, but her reputation went far beyond just her occupation. Sandy's zest for life was readily apparent as she seized every opportunity to live life to its fullest! Sandy had an appreciation for fashion, home decor and travel. Her enthusiasm for shopping (especially at Chico's and Home Goods) and keen sense of style were her trademarks. She loved to travel to the beach and feel the warm sun on her face while enjoying the company of her dear friends and loved ones. She was a fantastic cook who technically did not like to cook; however, she did love bringing her family together and no one could resist her food. Sandy went above and beyond to provide the most elaborate holidays for her family, filled with beautiful decorations (five Christmas trees!!), delicious meals and most importantly unmeasurable love. Providing amazing memories for her kids and grandsons meant everything. To say she will be missed as a loving mother, nana, aunt, cousin, friend, etc. is an understatement to just how amazing she was. The biggest gift she left behind was to demonstrate love through her actions rather than just words. Generous, loving and selfless are just a few of the traits that made countless friends feel like family. Her circle of loved ones created an army of support to help her fight cancer, and her children will be forever grateful. Sandy was the strongest woman her family and friends ever knew. Her resilience, both mentally and physically left her family and friends in awe. She will forever be missed but we'll be comforted by the fond memories she left behind. May she rest in peace with her husband Tony at the beach. The family held a private viewing and funeral service, followed by entombment in Mt. Hope Cemetery, Penn Hills. Memorial contributions may be made in her name to Hillman Cancer Center, 5320 Centre Ave., Pittsburgh, PA 15232. I.N. RENDALL HARPER, JR. I.N....
I.N. RENDALL HARPER, JR. I.N. Rendall Harper, Jr. passed away in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania on May 4, 2020. Mr. Harper (Rendall) was 81 years old. He was born on July 19, 1938 in Pamplico, South Carolina, the only child of I.N. Rendall Harper, Sr. and Kate Ella Harper. He is survived by his children I.N. Rendall Harper, III (Randy) and his wife, Caprice Johnson; his daughter Tara Harper O'Connor and her husband Stephen O'Connor, and his grandchildren, Kamran Kate Eugenie Harper and Elizabeth Rebecca Kamalika Harper, all of Pittsburgh. Rendall had numerous cousins and friends in North and South Carolina, Georgia and the US Virgin Islands, as well as friends and family here in Pittsburgh who will all miss him dearly. At the age of 13, Rendall left his parent's home in Orangeburg, South Carolina to attend St. Emma Military Academy in Powhatan, Virginia. St. Emma was a Catholic boarding school for African American boys. Upon graduation, Rendall matriculated at Duquesne University where he was a biology major. During his freshman year at Duquesne he met his future wife, Elizabeth C. (Betsy) Johnson at a party at her house. The first thing he said to her was that he was going to marry her. She would later say about that moment that he was charming, but she was not sure he was sane. Betsy preceded him in death in 1999 after 37 years of marriage. While at Duquesne University, Rendall worked as a photographer in the labs at the University of Pittsburgh, taking photos of autopsies and experiments. He also worked as a wedding photographer while still in school. Rendall had a love of photography that he maintained his entire life. He had a long list of friends and family who received a daily photo of his grandchildren in an e-mail, and later a daily text of a photo of a flower. As a wedding guest, Rendall would take photos of the ceremony and the reception, rush to a 24 hour photo store, get three sets of prints, put the photos in albums, and then deliver a copy to the couple and their parents. Recipients would frequently prefer Rendall's photos to the work of their professional wedding photographer, as Rendall was a friend who knew how to create and capture candid moments. Rendall was one of the first African-Americans to work in sales at IBM. His market was hospitals and universities, and he sold the University of Pittsburgh their very first mainframe computer. He left IBM to join the startup company Shared Medical Systems, which he then left in 1977 to create his own company, American Micrographics Company (AMC). AMC was a true family business, with Betsy as the general manager, and employing their children, nieces, and his sister in law, as well as the children of dear friends. Rendall had a fertile mind and was a true entrepreneur. He loved research and data, and if you were lucky, he would explain his theory on investing in stocks and options, or his strongly held opinion that coding was an invaluable skill to have. He came from a long line of storytellers. Discussions with Rendall were reminiscent of his father's gatherings under the carport in South Carolina where Rendall Sr. would hold court. Rendall also loved to barbecue. His ribs and hamburgers were legendary, and he loved to cook ribs to feed friends and family. Rendall also loved to dance with Betsy. Theirs was a wonderful partnership. Rendall was a member of Omega Psi Phi and Sigma Pi Phi (the Boule). He sat on numerous boards including but not limited to Duquesne University, The Art Institute, Shady Side Hospital, The Children's Institute and C-Cor Electronics. He could most often be found on the audit committee, due to his love of data and numbers. Those who knew Rendall also know that he was an enthusiastic technophile, having been an early adopter of the personal computer in the early 1980s. The family would appreciate if you would send memories or stories about Rendall to the email address INRHMEMORIES@gmail.com Due to the COVID 19 crisis, the family is preparing a memorial at a later date. Rendall will be interred with Betsy at Allegheny Cemetery in Pittsburgh, PA. Arrangements by BALL FUNERAL CHAPEL, INC. Send condolences post-gazette.com/gb
