BITTNER MARY C. Of Glenshaw, Pennsylvania. Beloved wife of Dr. Arthur C. Bittner, passed away peacefully at her home on August 22, 2018 surrounded by her family. She is survived by her husband and their seven children, Terri Ballard (Bill), Lorraine Bittner (Bernard MacDonagh), David Bittner, Gregory Bittner (Denise), Mary Lou Mitsch (Richard), Callie Bartos (Scott), and Bob Bittner (Kim); also surviving Mary are 16 grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren as well as numerous nieces and nephews.  Mary's siblings include Jack Winschel, Sr. Anne Winschel, Agnes DeLany, and Sr. Carolyn Winschel. She was preceded in death by her brothers, Thomas Winschel and Charles Winschel. Mary Catherine was born on January 7, 1929 in Etna, Pennsylvania, daughter of John and Caroline Winschel, who owned Winschel Hardware Store. She grew up on Middle Road in Glenshaw where she attended St. Mary's grade school and Divine Providence Academy. She then graduated from the Ad Art School and enjoyed a long career as an accomplished artist.  She was active in Pittsburgh art organizations, and her artwork lives on in private and corporate collections. She was a talented musician, gardener, and lover of nature. She enjoyed a long and loving marriage with her husband Art for 67 years. Friends will be received on Friday from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m., at the BOCK FUNERAL HOME, LTD., 1500 Mt. Royal Blvd., Glenshaw. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated in St. Mary of the Assumption Church, Glenshaw, on Saturday at 9:30 a.m. EVERYONE PLEASE MEET AT CHURCH. GILLELAND WILLIAM NORTHWOOD "WOODY" Passed away August 21, 2018 at the age of 85 after a long and courageous battle with leukemia. He was born in Wheeling, West Virginia on November 14, 1932 to William Lyons Gilleland and Mildred Northwood Gilleland. He was graduated from Linsly Military Institute (now Linsly School) in 1950, where he subsequently served as Trustee. Upon graduation, he attended Swarthmore College in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. He transferred to the Wharton School of the University of Pennsylvania and was graduated with a B.S. in Economics. Upon graduation, he was employed by the Western Union. He was drafted into the US Army and was assigned to the US Army Signal Corp and deployed to Karlsruhe, Germany where he served until 1958 and attained the rank of E5. Upon receiving an Honorable Discharge and returning to the United States, he started employment with Mellon Bank (now BNY Mellon) in their two year management training program. Upon completion of the training program, he was assigned to the Trust Department where he served initially as a Research Analyst and subsequently as a Personal Investment Officer, Employee Benefits Portfolio Manager and finally as Head of Mellon Private Capital Management, which serves the investment and administrative needs of the Mellon family and other high wealth/high income individuals and foundations. In his early years, he was one of the first in the US to attain the professional designation of Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA). He retired from Mellon as a Senior Vice President in 1993 after 35 years of service. During retirement, he and his wife Mary traveled extensively, visiting all of the continents except Antarctica and arranging bi-annual family reunions with family and grandchildren at various locations in the Caribbean, as well as vacations at their beach house in Dewey Beach, Delaware. He was predeceased by both parents, his only sister, Janet White and a nephew, Ian Andy White. He is survived by his caring and loving wife of 56 years, Mary; four children and ten grandchildren; Dr. William N. Gilleland Jr., his wife Sharon and their children William III, Connor and Kara of New Castle, PA, David S. Gilleland, his wife Lisa and their children Amanda and Jacob of Charlotte, NC, Scott L. Gilleland, his wife Fiona and their sons Ryan and Kevin of Phoenixville, PA, and Amy E. Southworth, her husband John and their daughters Alicia, Mary Beth and Rebecca of Lithia, FL. In addition, he is survived by a nephew, Bruce N. White, his wife Beth and their daughters, Meredith, Madeline and Catherine as well as a niece, Sally White. He is also survived by a sister-in-law, Ruth Myers and her husband Dennis. FISCHER BETTY (WAGNER) Age 95, of McCandless and Ross Townships, passed away peacefully August 21, 2018.  She was preceded in death by her husband, E. Karl Fischer. Betty is survived by her four children, Robert (Eve Conkey) Fischer of Chicago, Rick Fischer, Judy (Fred) Maskrey, and Ruth (Kevin Cavanaugh) Sanko; eight grandchildren, Hillary, Ellen, Courtney, Brian, Noelle, George, Karl and Isabelle; many cousins, nieces, nephews, as well as extended family and friends. Betty was a strong woman, a loving mother and grandmother.  She was an avid reader, friendly and active at every stage of her life. She handled ration coupons in WWII. She was an active member of St. John's Lutheran Church, was on the board of her apartment building in Ross and in the last years of her life at Passavant Senior Center, she was rarely in her room so she could participate in activities, greeting everyone with a smile and a hello.  A celebration of Betty's life will be held at a later date. Abe was very dedicated to his family, enjoyed Thursday family dinners, going to Gateway sporting events, and had a very kind and generous heart.  Abe devoted his life to helping children and others.  He retired as an elementary school principal after 34 years in the education field. After retiring Abe continued his love for children by driving a school bus.  Loyal son of the late Dorothy (Lapcevich) and Angelo Bordogna, and Ralph Comunale; doting brother of Priscilla Kent; and unique cousin of Rosemary Wassel and the late Michael Corletti; beloved husband of Arletta (Woiner) Comunale; loving father of an only son, A.J.
